This year we have one MVP and two honorable mentions for the NYU Badminton Club-Team. Awards were chosen based on club/team contributions, practice attendance and quality, and coach recommendations.
Our honorable mentions are:
Stevin Ho and Kevin Yang
And our MVP is...
Lu Chen
Lu Chen joined the NYU badminton team in fall 2008. She comes to every practice with a positive attitude. Lu won all her singles matches in every tournament this year. Teaming up with her partner Iris Yang in doubles, together they brought home the most winning points overall for the #1 ranked undefeated women’s team in the Intercollegiate Badminton Association (IBA) 08-09 season. Off the court, Lu may seem like your typical friendly, hard-working graduate student, but on the court she lets everyone know that she is serious about her sport. She is known by the team for her victory cheers during the games. As a member of the club-team, Lu also shares her talents, volunteering some of her own court time to help coach recreational club members in the team-club buddy program which kick-started in the fall. Lu has been an instrumental member of both the club and the team and she will be a valued member for years to come. Lu completed her first degree in Economics and International Studies at Peking University in China and is currently working on her masters in International Relations.
